Festival Ometeotl – a special festival in Mexico
Ometeotl Festival is a very special festival happening in Tepoztlan, Morelos, Mexico since 2009. The festival is famous for its special non-commercial approach and seems to leave anyone who visited it with only positive words to say. Ometeotl gives special place to chill out music as well, not a very common thing in the Mexican trance culture. Named after Aztec gods Ometecuhtli and Omecihua, Omteotl aims to integrate the elements of the party with a cultural proposal linked to consciousness, connection and respect for the Earth.

Divided into 4 main axes under the acronym of META, the festival proposes to create an element of meta-awareness (a kind of collective lucid dream) focusing on the Music (trance, chill out, ambient, techno, ethnic music, etc.), the Spirit (raised by the participation of members of different indigenous traditions and guardians of spiritual knowledge), the Land (activities, workshops and conferences on themes related to ecology), and Art (various manifestations of visual art, performances and crafts).
In the words of the organizers: “Our events seek to unify different social circles, tribes and cultures, besides giving a message of harmony to all attendees, contributing to a better relationship with ourselves and with our fellow men, and with nature and everything around us in order to achieve a better human evolution. For this purpose, we want to co-create an artistic, ecological and cultural heritage movement, which contributes to the expansion of our collective consciousness. The Ometeotl Festival seeks unity among all attendees and manages to fuse the ancient traditions and customs, culture and contemporary art, thus forging an identity and shaping our vision.”
This years edition happened in April 8th-10th and featured among others: Eat Static, Desert Dwellers, Solar Fields, Chris Dyer, Tor.ma in Dub, Tron, Master Margherita, Kliment, Jossie Telch & Pspiralife.
