Out of this world Streogrphic GIFs from Dain Fagerholm
Dain Fagerholm is an artist from Seattle, Washington in The USA. Dain works mostly with ink pens and colour dye markers and started making what he calls ‘stereographic GIFs’ of his drawings giving a special 3D effect in 2012. The 3D look is achieved by rapidly changing images with slightly shifted perspective. Of course, stereographic images existed for hundreds of years as a 3D illustrative technique. However, it’s unusual to see this technique used for hand drawings.
The childish mysterious drawings of Fagerholm, which all have an undeniable simple attraction that seems to teleport you to another reality instantly, seem to come to life and totally entrance you once they go through his stereographic GIFs technique.
Stereographic images have existed for hundreds of years and have been used for a very long as a technique to achieve the a 3D effect. In this method, one tricks the eye with two parallel images captured with a minor difference in perspective to be shown at a close range in order to simulate a tactile quality. This is a perfect match to the GIF format, and the outcome is stereogrphic GIFs.
