2015 best Psytrance albums by Trancentral
Here are Trancentral’s best albums of 2015. We can tell you that by all means it wasn’t easy… Even if you manage to overlook the sub-genres preferences by everyone, it’s really hard to say what were the top albums of the year, and declaring which was the best one. Thus, this is a list of our favorite albums, although it is clear that there can be other legitimate lists.
Anyway, we hope that you’ll enjoy every minute of this psychedelic journey!
So here they are, in no particular order:
Ace Ventura – Paradise Engineering
One of this year’s most important album releases is Ace Ventura’s ‘Paradise Engineering’, released on Iboga Records. ‘Paradise Engineering’ (Ace Ventura`s 2nd album) brings forward Ace Ventura`s uncompromising style, offering a full power musical journey to different musical worlds, from Indian influences (on Pranava with Astrix) through African tribal percussion beds (on the fantastic Ingonyama, produced with Juno Reactor), always with an emphasis for strong dance floor reactions.
The album offers some huge collaborative tunes, with some serious heavyweight co-conspirators, indicative of the stature and ability of one of the finest psy-prog producers around. Key figures in the scene such as Juno reactor, Astrix, Liquid Soul, Zen Mechanics, LOUD and Symbolic, all collaborated with Ace Ventura on this album. The result is a strong blend of Psy-Progressive with Minimal, Tribal and euphoric trance. And there’s an excellent chilled one to end the journey too.
Vini Vici – Future Classics
Vini Vici debut album, Future Classics, was released on Iboga Records last April, and soon became a huge success, bringing few tracks to the first spot on Beatport’s top selling psytrance chart. Tracks like Namaste, Alteza, Talking With U.F.O.s, and above all The Tribe, were played heavily around the world. Seems like Vini Vici managed to produced exactly what they were after judging by the album’s title: Creating music that will probably be remembered years from now.
Vini Vici is the brand new project of Aviram Saharai & Matan Kadosh, both known as part of the successful psy-trance project, Sesto Sento. They produce psychedelic trance with progressive touch, as they express their love for the old school sound paired with their progressive ideas.
Outsiders – Our Prophecy
Outsiders – Our Prophecy was released just recently but soon made an impact, reaching to the top of Beatport chart. Outsiders are one of the freshest most promising projects in psytrance these days, releasing their debut album on the veteran label TIP Records. With a special appearance by Raja Ram, and collaborative tracks with Symbolic , Burn in Noise , Killerwatts (DJ Tristan & Avalon ), we can say that this album is a psychedelic twister.
Origin No. 5 – VA compilation on Nano Records
Named after the amazing festival in South Africa, the 5th edition of the Origin series by Nano Records, featured no less than 19 tracks. Origin is compiled by Nano Records boss Regan, and features tracks by almost the entire roster of the label and some more. From the powerful and driving tracks by Symbolic, LOUD, Burn in Noise & more, through the more crunchy ones by Broken Toy and others, all the wey to the super psychedelic ones by DJ Tristan or Dickster & Space Tribe, this compilation covers most of the psytrance genres today.
Dickster – Inebriatti
Another great album released on Nano Records. Dickster is Dick Trevor, a psytrance legend. The talented British producer was a member in the legendary psytrance pioneers band Green Nuns of the Revolution, one of the innovative bands in the genre. He co-wrote one of the epic psytrance tracks ever, ‘Jiggle of The Sphinx’ together with Simon Posford (Hallucinogen). On ‘Inebriatti’ Dickster released a collection of full power tracks ready to bang through any day or night, including collaborations with James Monro (as the Bumbling Loons), Earthling, Space Tribe, Circuit Breakers, and more.
Eat Static – Dead Planet
Dead Planet by Eat Static is an album that reminded us why we fell in love with psychedelic electronic music. It`s innovative & inventive, completely different from any other thing we have listened to this year. The album features both psy-trance tracks and experimental electronic music tracks, forming a super psychedelic journey to outer space and beyond. It is organic, raw, tickling your body, mind and soul with its analogue sounds, twisting your brain one moment and soothing it seconds later. Some impressive guests take part too, including Robert Smith from The Cure (!!!), System 7 & Laughing Buddha. Amazing psychedelic sonic adventure, don’t miss it!
All Stars – Vol.3
Mainstage Records compiled all the best tracks released in the label this year into one massive compilation. On All Stars 3 you can find some of the biggest tracks of the year including Azax Bliss (Azax Syndrom & Bliss) – “The Better Man Remix”, the acidic “Story Of DMT” by Vibe Tribe & Spade & Faders, the melodic “Perplex – The Pattern” and more.
Waio – Searching for signals
Waio – Supernowa is a cosmic 9-tracks journey to a new galaxy somewhere in space. The album features a lush of audio textures and styles, starting with a flowing full-on atmosphere, followed with a more spacey psy-progressive and an edgy powerful music. The album features a remix to the epic Beautiful Garden by psytrance legends Tristan & Raja Ram, remixes to Sonic Species, Mindfold and Headroom, and a collaborative track with Chromatone.
Talamasca – Time Machine
Talamasca – Time Machine is the 10th album of psytrance pioneer Cedric of Talamasca (full interview with one of the funniest guys in psytrance HERE). The album, released on Dacru Records, takes you on a psychedelic journey, with tone of twists producing an acidic Goa atmosphere.
Upgrade – The Melody Factory
Upgrade are one of the fast-rising phenomenons of 2015 on the psytrance scene, successfully combining powerful trance with beautiful melodies. Their album “The Melody Factory”, was released on Regroup Records last may.
