Koxbox – 10 Essential Tracks

Koxbox is a Danish musical group formed in 1990 and it originally consisted of Peter Candy and Frank É Madsen, together with Christian Johansson a.k.a. Ian Ion who was co-producing since the beginning.

After publishing a few singles the group was discovered by DJ Sven Väth and soon they published their first album “Forever After” in 1995 (under his record label Harthouse). Peter Candy left the group in 1998 and Christian Johansson officially joined the project soon after. In the summer of ’99, after some exciting gigs all over the world, and after Koxbox put the finishing touches on the new album “The Great Unknown”. The album went on to become one of the best selling psy-trance albums of the new millennium, backed with a number of gigs all over the world that established Koxbox as one of the leading projects of the scene.

Koxbox is still going strong constantly producing, evolving and creating new music, offering his audience unforgettable soundscapes and doing loads of collaborations and projects.

This was until 2003 when Christian left, and since then Koxbox is the solo project of Frank Kiehn Madsen. In 2006, six years after the release of The Great Unknown, Koxbox returned with U-Turn, released on Twisted Records. This most recent album contained collaborations with some of psychedelic dance music’s best established artists including Eat Static, Ozric Tentacles Frederic Holyszewski (Deedrah, Dado, Cypher, Transwave) and Serge Souque (Total Eclipse) as well as other

In 2015, also Frank started different projects like Franke & Illinton, releasing an album called “Franke & Illinton” on Zero1 Music in 2014. He also teamed up with Arcon & Hujaboy and released an album called “Fractalia”. He’s been collaborating with Eat Static, Ajja, Dick Trevor, Absolum, Transwave, Deedrah, Celli, Riktam, Nir to name a few. In 2018 Koxbox new project Arcon with Hujaboy made 2 tracks with Ajja called “Maze of Mirrors” released On Zero1 and “Dawn Dragons” on TIP Records.
