CHI-AD was first formed in 1997 by Hannah Mai and Andy C., when the first album “Virtual Spirit” was published. According to Hannah ,the project was intended to mix some of harder and more abrasive elements of Acid Techno, with the more uplifting and melodic elements of Goa Trance.

Hannah’s inspiration was always drawn by the wonders of the natural world , and CHI-A.D.’s music has always been about trying to capture that really rushing feeling at a great party

CHI -A.D. comes from the word CHI, which means the body’s inner energy or life-force and A.D. which is for Anno Domini which is Latin for “in the year of our Lord”. Hannah’s inspiration was always drawn by the wonders of the natural world , and CHI-A.D.’s music has always been about trying to capture that really rushing feeling at a great party. This is reflected through each and every track released so far, evolving with the needs of time but always remaining deeply spiritual and highly dancefloor oriented.

Over the years CHI-A.D. has also played at numerous parties/festivals in the UK and across the globe. With 5 albums released and being on up to 70 different compilations, CHI-AD has left a deep impact on the musical scene. With tracks such as Astral Warrior, Eye Am The I and Anno Domini, to name a few, the Goa Trance scene has been marked by unique hypnotic melodies and deeply spiritual musical patterns.

Around 2006-2008, Chi-A.D. disappeared but has now resurfaced with new music in the year 2020. Nowadays, CHi-AD music is being re-released on Memo604 so stay tuned !
