In the early 2000s, before the popularity of psychedelic downtempo surged to the levels you see today, two musical forces – Yaniv Shulman (aka Shulman) and Shahar Bar-Itzhak (DJ Shahar) teamed together to form Aleph Zero Records. Their mission: to release a diverse array of ambient, chill out, ethnic sounds and cutting edge electronica.

Although Aleph Zero is not currently active, it has left an indelible mark on the psychedelic chillout scene. And we have heard reliable rumors it might surface from its hibernation state one day…

With the innovative musical mind of Shulman, and DJ Shahar’s long experience in the electronic dance & chillout music world as a DJ and writer, Aleph Zero Records was poised for success, and swiftly became one of the world’s best known psychedelic downtempo labels, rivalled only by Ultimae Records.

In 2003, Aleph Zero released their first album, Shulman’s In Search Of A Meaningful Moment. Already hailed as “the Israeli answer to Shpongle”, Shulman’s sophomore album was a critical smash, with Igloo Magazine praising its global influences and range of beats to beatless.

Over the next decade, Aleph Zero would find success with artists such as Bluetech, Eitan Reiter, Hibernation, Ishq, Krusseldorf, MIDIval PunditZ, Omnimotion, and of course, Shulman. Although Aleph Zero is not currently active, it has left an indelible mark on the psychedelic chillout scene. And we have heard reliable rumors it might surface from its hibernation state one day…
