15 Psychedelic Chillout Classics that every psytrance lover should know
15 Psychedelic Chillout Classics that every psytrance lover should know
Goa Trance and Psytrance appeared in the mid 90s, and psychedelic chillout music was quick to follow. And it makes perfect sense. People who go wild for hours stretching the limits of their brains and bodies need to relax. They need to Chill. But they still want to go to far away places in their minds. So what do you do? Psychedelic Chillout.
People who go wild for hours stretching the limits of their brains and bodies need to relax. They need to Chill. But they still want to go to far away places in their minds.
So it didn’t take much for Psychedelic Chillout music to follow Goa & Psychedelic Trance. And the people who are perhaps most responsible of this music turning into a genre of its own are the British psychedelic trance pioneers – the TIP / Twisted / Dragonfly gang – Raja Ram, Graham Wood, and of course, Simon Posford, among them. The ones who also brought us Shpongle, the group maybe most identified with this style of music.
So if you like psytrance and you like the more chilled side of it, you must know these classic psychedelic chillout tracks. Making a list like that for a true lover of the music is a very hard mission, and 15 is really not enough. We tried to concentrate on the early years of Psychill, and to give representation to a wide variety of artists.
We know real psychedelic chillout lovers won’t be happy, and each will blame us for forgetting this track, and choosing that track. It’s inevitable. But one thing we can say for sure. If you like psytrance, you must know these. They are all amazing, timeless, sent people on deep mind journeys, relaxed tired minds, expanded consciousnesses, and helped shape what is today Psychedelic Chillout music (Psychill).
We hope you enjoy the journey, (there’s a a playlist of all track in the bottom to listen to in one go) and feel free to add your own favourite Psychedelic Chillout classics in the comments!
