GalactiCode – music is the all around intergalactic code

Who is the man behind the GalactiCode project? Tell us a bit about yourself.  

I’m Itai Hillel, joyfully married and a proud father of 3. Besides producing music, I’m a real estate entrepreneur and developer, MMA practitioner and a waves surfer.

I believe in respecting every person as a human being and that music has the power and the ability to bridge over disagreements and disputes where words fail.

Tell us about your first encounter with electronic dance music.

My first encounters with electronic music were somewhere in the mid 90’s- Prodigy, Dragonfly’s Order Odonata, Shiva Shidapu, Tiesto, Kai Tracid and many many more.

At first it led to a lot of clubbing, but after traveling for a year all over South America, I was exposed to a true underground outdoors nature gatherings and not long after I started to DJ at some of them – in Peru, Argentina, Brazil and Colombia, playing from mini-discs (!) the music I was collecting at the time.

When did you start to produce music and why?

After being a DJ at many underground nature parties, in which I’ve played mostly music of other artists, which I’ve been collecting for quite some time, I felt that I want to bring my own saying to the scene. It took a long time and wasn’t consistent – I started my own company and a family – but eventually, from track to track and from release to release, I feel my growth and that my journey is in the right direction.

What defines the GalactiCode style? What is your vision behind your music?

As the project’s name states – I believe that music is the all around intergalactic code, or language, if you will, that will unite all of us as one. This is the vision I’m trying to express through my creation. As a result, my music is very diverse and it’s like an “open source”- every style or genre can find its way into my music – they are all welcome! You can find inside Opera phrases, Oriental and Middle Eastern music, Dub, Electro, Techno and Classical music as well. I believe that the whole is bigger than the sum of the parts it is made of.

New EP just released on Maharetta Records – tell us about it.

The truth is, that the 2 tracks included in this EP were created at different times in my life, but not only after finishing them I felt they belong together. They both describe mental growth and an experimenting journey, ending with some catarsis. I hope you’ll recognize it when you’ll listen to this EP!

Tell us about your creative process. What do you use in your production? 

I listen a lot of references – not psytrance – and like to use a lot of samples. Also, I like to write in different musical scales that are not necessarily psytrance oriented.

Soundwise, I try not to use the same plug-ins and instruments all the time in order to give my music diverse colours.

LOL – That’s a tough one! I can’t single out just one, but I can tell you about my influences – Azax Syndrom, Bliss, Seroxat, Astral Projection, GMS, Shiva Shidapu and the list goes on and on…

About my favorite GalactiCode track – I’m biased, so I’ll leave this one to the fans and followers…🙂

Future plans? 

My future plans are consistent development and movement, both musically and mentally, reaching out and touch as many people around the world as possible with my music. I just want to make people smile, dance and happy and I’m positive that my music has the right vibe and frequency to achieve that.
