Chill Space Top Tracks February 2021
Chill Space Top Tracks February 2021
February can be a cold and harsh month for many, and it’s more important than ever that we take care of our physical and mental health. Fortunately February was an excellent month for downtempo music, particularly soothing, pastoral, and meditative ambient sounds. Of course there is a bit of psydub and psychill too, just to keep the fire crackling!
VORR – Mysterious Ambience
Mysterious ambient that would be at home in a deep, vast forest.
Vallou – Nuage
A few years of explorations, with the endless language of music, and sound, gave Vallou the possibility to share a free expression of his subconscious to the world. Expect sweet, and emotional, downtempo and chilled tunes that manage to touch the listener in a positive way.
Advanced Suite – Falling To Pieces
Advanced Suite is back skipping lines and moving times. Every actuality actually. Split beats meet downtempo streets. Broken jilted techno and tokin’ tilted heck yes!. Inside trees through open seas interlaced with intricate things. Sit back relax, volume up to the max.
Slaycub – Dewdrop Dreams
Slaycub’s new EP Visceral Planet has been in the making for well over a year; a year spent revisiting, reviving, and reinvigorating them with much love and care. These are some of his most emotional works, focusing more on the flow of tension and release rather than on technicality or pure experimentation.
Stefan Torto – E S S O | Inner Voyage [Meditation Music Video]
Stefan Torto turns his considerable talents to a meditative ambient track that is sublime. Cimematographer Vivian Gerogianni has done visual justice to the song.
Stilhead – Sightings
STILHED is a fusion project of pianist Jacob David & sound architect Thomas Haahr. Working together on a documentary series on the Greenlandic sled dog, they discovered the sensation of a comforting sound build by deep organic textures and subtle piano elements.
Bunraku – Taisho
Intense chill beats and a return to the old sound of Stefan Torto!
Lauge & Baba Gnohm – Endless Spheres
The duo Lauge & Baba Gnohm consists of Henrik Laugesen and Kalle Christensen, both born in 1985 in Denmark. Lauge & Baba Gnohm was formed in the late winter of 2008, and that wintery feeling which was present in their first tracks, still leave traces in their more recent soundscapes.
Scion – Protection Song
Scion asks you to forget for a moment about exploring the outer world, and take time to explore the richness and depth of your inner world. Many of us have had much time to reflect recently on who we are, and what our place in the world is and indeed, what the game of life is all about. Scion’s latest music is an emotive experience which aims to aid the listener’s connection to their Dark Star, their shadow self – to explore their infinite potential. Failing that, Scion dearly hopes it’s just a good old enjoyable ride for people’s ears, bodies and minds!
Brian Grassfield – The Shepherd’s Vision
Once upon a time a shepherd went up a hill covered with silky, soft grass in search of his herd. By sundown he lost his way and the bright, starry night appeared over him as a blanket.
While sitting next to the crackling flames of the bonfire keeping him warm, the shepherd had a vision. It might have been that he accidentally put some strange mushrooms in his supper, who knows.
That night, he whipped out his old, worn-out wooden flute to turn into magical music what was dazzling his eyes.
By sunrise his herd found its way back to the shepherd.
