James Monro – 10 Essential Tracks

James Monro was born in the UK and now settled in Brazil, he has been into the music business for the last 25 years at least. His musical influences range from artists such as Jean Michelle Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Visage, Human League combined with a deep love for the psychedelic rock bands of the 70’s.

From an early age, he played his music endlessly at small underground parties of the UK until he ended up onto the beaches of Goa in the early ’90’. It was then inevitable that he fall into a passionate relationship with electronic dance music. As an avid musical lover , he started composing his own sound and participating in various collaborative projects such as “Technossomy” with Matt Evans in 1992 and “Bumbling Loons” with Dick Trevor in 1999. He has also been at the forefront of the Electronic Psychedelic movement with his record label Flying Rhino Records, which he started back in 1995 along with two friends.

James has been pushing the boundaries of what constitutes Electronic music, whether in Psytrance, House or techno, always driven from his passion for music

Being hard to truly define James’s signature sound, many will agree though that it’s deep, its hypnotic, it’s emotional and above all fat and funky. With his countless influences, and production skills, James was always keen on all styles of dance music, pushing the boundaries of what constitutes Electronic music, whether in Psytrance, House or techno, always driven from his passion for music.

Throughout the years, James has been playing all over the globe, building up a strong audience with his unique approach to Psychedelic music. James is also no stranger to the techno scene and has another label 4DigitalAudio specializing in a slower & deeper sound. He has been releasing on labels far and wide and his discography is testament to a dedicated and passionate artist within the scene.
