We hooked up with Makis, the organiser of Sola Luna Festival 2024/25 in Thailand. We chat about the story of Sola Luna and about the organising the new edition in Thailand.
What was the inspiration behind creating the Sola Luna Festival, and what vision guided you?
It was 25 years ago, after having spent some time in Goa and in South Africa for the Millennium Festival, that we conceived Sola Luna. Targeting to make a festival with the cream crop of the artists, wanting to reflect the vibes from the original story as we had experienced it.

How does Thailand as a location impact the atmosphere and identity of Sola Luna?
Thailand is a very special place. A place where freedom and diversity are respected. This freedom creates the base for such a unique event like ours! We consider ourselves blessed for having the opportunity to relive our old dream.

Being the first edition, what key challenges have you faced in organizing the festival?
Organizing an outdoor multiday festival was never an easy story and especially in the tropics. Our local hosts, the organizers of Ligor Spirit festival, have made it more easy and we are going to have an amazingly organized festival on the beach of Khanom in Thailand.

What unique elements will set Sola Luna apart from other international trance festivals?
It is true that Sola Luna will be very different from most of the festivals you have been. Our target is to recreate the atmosphere from the early days of our music scene, making this party a truly memorable experience.
How did you select the artists and musical styles for this debut lineup?
The lineup is a mixture of legendary artists that participated in the original Sola Luna back in 2001-2003 plus some of the best current psychedelic trance producers and DJs. Have a look at our lineup and you will be amazed.
What kind of experience and message do you hope the festival will convey to its audience?
Our message is clear! We should learn to be grateful for the gift of life! We share the same planet and we should embrace the cultural diversity and learn from it! We come together to celebrate life, bringing the light back! Spread love not hate! Big love
