Psytrance covers & remixes for popular songs
The idea for this article came to us when we saw that Oforia has just uploaded a Psytrance cover for Electric Lights Orchestra’s Twilight. This is not the first time that Oforia covers a popular song. He started with it in 1999 with his great version for Pink Floyd’s Welcome to the Machine, probably one of the first Psytrance covers if not the first one.
Most of these were never released as there was no chance to get an OK from the rights owners, but did their job on dancefloors around the world. Some took a tribute respectful approach, some were just made for fun, and others were clearly gimmicks.
Since then many Psytrance artists have reworked or remixed known songs from past and present, quite a few involved the two guys in the cover photo as part of 1200 Micrograms. So we dug into our foggy brains overloaded with beats and sounds and managed to come up with 23 tunes (there were few others we remembered but could not find online) from almost 20 years of Psytrance covers & remixes for popular songs.

As strong believers in not taking music too seriously all the time and in the fact that in the right timing almost every track can do good in a party, we are fine with all approaches. We still think some of these are amazing and others are horrible – but we leave it for you to form your own opinions.
